Do you ever feel like nobody cares? It's like nothing you do matters?
I do. I feel that way all the time.
Let’s not kid ourselves though; not everyone actually does care. I mean, there are more than 7 billion people in the world, and not everyone can care about you. Hell, some people don't even know who Taylor Swift is! That isn’t really a problem compared to starvation, poverty, war, rape, and all the terrible things happening in our world. It’s still tough though, just dealing with that horrid empty feeling in your chest. Just because the problem is smaller doesn't make the pain we feel any less hurtful.
Now for the obvious truth, we just have to accept that there's nothing you can do to get rid of it. The only thing you can do is learn how to deal with it. I bet you’re probably laughing or something, waiting for me to yell "April Fools" through the screen. I would too. As much as I want to, I can’t.
The only thing I can do is continue to slam my fingers down on my keyboard, trying to find the best way to phrase these sentences.
I’m not going to sprout useless things like, "It’s all going to be alright," or "Things will get better," or some other disgusting display of toxic positivity. I will tell you this, though. There will always be at least one person who cares. That person could be a family member, a friend, a teacher, a classmate, or even someone you’ve just met! All that matters is that they’re there, so block out that annoying little voice and tell yourself that you are cared about, that you are loved, and what you do matters.
You matter just as much as the rest of the 7 billion people on this planet and have just as much right to be here.
